Cyber Essentials is a UK Government-backed scheme based on five important security controls. Certification may be required for some government contracts and is a useful way to demonstrate baseline security to commercial customers.
Meet contract requirements
Cyber Essentials is required for certain UK Government contracts. It may also support commercial supplier security checks, though certification does not guarantee contract awards.

£25,000 included cyber insurance
Eligible organisations achieving whole-organisation Cyber Essentials certification can opt into £25,000 of cyber liability insurance at no additional cost for 12 months, subject to policy conditions.
Two levels of assurance.
Cyber Essentials
A verified self-assessment of the five core technical security controls. An independent assessor reviews the submitted answers, and the business confirms their accuracy.

Cyber Essentials Plus
Builds on Cyber Essentials with hands-on independent technical testing. An accredited certification body checks a sample of in-scope devices, vulnerability management and security controls.

- Address scan and configuration findings
- Coordinate with the independent certification body
The Plus audit must normally be completed within three months of the Cyber Essentials certificate.
Practical support from assessment to submission.
We do the preparation and technical work. Independent certification bodies carry out the official assessment and award certificates.
1. Readiness review
We review your devices, operating systems, cloud platforms, internet access, account security and existing IT arrangements, then identify the gaps.
2. Improvements
We help implement the necessary changes, including Microsoft 365 hardening, multi-factor authentication, device protection, patching and secure administration.
3. Certification assistance
We help prepare clear, accurate questionnaire answers, support the application and help you get ready for the additional Plus audit if required.
What about cost?
Official Cyber Essentials assessment fees depend on organisation size. Cyber Essentials Plus involves separately quoted independent technical testing.

About the included insurance
Whole-organisation certified UK or Crown Dependencies businesses with turnover under £20 million may opt into a 12-month cyber insurance policy with a £25,000 overall limit, at no extra premium. Exclusions, excesses and conditions apply; it is not a replacement for comprehensive cover.
